The front walkway

It's hard to really see in the photos, but it looks much better! I should also mention that while I was doing all this, Adam was prepping the house to be painted! I'm excited about that too. He has some more to do ,we got a late start today, but we drove around neighborhoods last night and found some color combinations we like, so more pics to come!!

So right before we moved in we ripped out all of the bushes and overgrown shrubs from our front walk, where all the dirt is was full over 5 feet high and you could not even see the front door! Then right before Christmas we decided to start working on it because we were so tired of looking at it. Above, see the "before photo" at first we just transplanted some monkey grass that we already had and added some pansies because they were all that was in season. Then today we started at it again! Adding Knock-out roses on either side of the door(they are small now but grow to 3'x3' so will fill in the area by the door nicely), gardenia to the flower bed, and ripping out the last bush that was on the left... I plan to add aztec lillies and hosta in its place, but that will wait til next week.

We're Converting...

...to vegetarians! So I've been thinking for a while now that I could definitely do without meat, and if it weren't for Adam I would just be a vegetarian...but that would mean cooking seperate meals and buying seperate groceries, which would only be a pain. But I mentioned again to Adam over the weekend and surprisingly he said OK! So Sunday I cooked our last "meat meal" (fillets and green beans with bearnaise sauce) and we started today! So this was our first vegetarian meal - Four Cheese Homemade Macaroni-swiss, velveeta, cheddar, and parmesan. I have a frined that has been doing the vegan thng for a while (now I could never do that, we all know I cannot give up cheese!) but she has noticed a difference in her weight, skin, and overall feeling. SoI thought I'd give it a try. Now, I'm not doing this for any animal cruelty reasons or anything- and Adam even says- if we are at someone's house and they are serving some kind of meat that he would not tell them that he can't eat it, but we won;t be eating it on our own anyway. I'll let you know how it goes!
